Frank Cooper

Updated: Mar 21

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Frank Cooper.

Frank was President of the NPC from 2005 to 2013, was a member of the Finance WP until 2019 and had recently turned 100 years old at the end of January. He was been a member of Unite and its predecessor unions for over 80 years. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and those at the NPC.

Jan Shortt said "Frank was a genuine gentleman, generous to a fault and with a brilliant sense of humour. He was a 'big' man in every sense but never stopped campaigning for older people and others affected by poor policy making. My personal tribute to Frank is to say thank you for all the support, encouragement and education that enabled me to be where I am in the NPC today. I will miss you so much."

Rosie MacGregor said "Frank who celebrated his 100th birthday on 29 January was an inspiration to all those who knew him as well as to those within the wider trade union and pensioner movements. In my role as President of the NPC, I would wish to pay tribute to his hard work and the massive commitment he gave to our organisation during his several terms of office as President.

He was a Trade Unionist for 80 years during which time he played a significant role in supporting and campaigning on behalf working people.  Skills he would bring to supporting pensioners on his retirement.

He will always be remembered by the NPC with respect and gratitude."

If you would like to send a card or your condolences regarding Frank, please contact the NPC and we can pass on the relevant details.
