From April 2013, the rules surrounding Housing Benefit are set to change. Those tenants deemed to have a spare bedroom will either have their benefit reduced or find they have to move to a smaller property. Whilst pensioners are not initially affected by this change, after October 2013 around 67,000 households where one partner is over pension age and one is under could be hit when Housing Benefit becomes part of the new Universal Credit. Find out how the changes might affect you by downloading this NPC briefing paper here.
